Department of Social Sciences
Establishment of the Department :-
As per the Government Resolution dated 17 October 2016, the Department of Social Sciences has been established. Under the Department of Social Sciences, the work of the Population Education Department is carried out.

Objectives of the Department :-
-
● To develop and disseminate student-participatory best practices to schools so that difficult and technical concepts in Social Sciences can be easily understood by students.
● To implement initiatives so that 100% of students in schools acquire 100% competencies in Social Sciences.
● To plan for achieving the prescribed Learning Outcomes for the subject of Social Sciences.
Functions / Activities of the Department :-

● To increase school registrations on the Vidyanjali portal, enhance participation of social organizations, and undertake appropriate correspondence with field and supervisory officers.
● To plan and implement training under the School Health Programme on behalf of the State Family Welfare Office and NCERT, distribute training materials, provide grants to schools under ICT support, and monitor the School Health Programme throughout the year.
● To work on the development of bridge courses and various practice question papers related to Social Science subjects.
● To organize various trainings and workshops for teachers’ professional development.
● To prepare the annual action plan and budget under the Population Education Department.
● To submit reports and information regarding activities conducted throughout the year under the Population Education Programme.
● To organize annual consultative meetings of DIET officers for planning various activities of the Population Education Department.
● To plan various trainings and workshops as per the approved action plan of the Population Education Department.
● To organize role-play and folk dance competitions from school level to state level as per the approved action plan of the Population Education Department.
● To organize educational and cultural competitions for DIET and SCERT officers and staff at various levels.
● To conduct monitoring visits to Regional Academic Authorities, District Institutes of Education and Training, Block Resource Centers, and schools across the state.
● To organize study tours in various districts of the state under the Population Education Programme and monitor population education-related activities.
● To submit proposals for the De-addiction Campaign to senior offices and implement the approved proposals.
● To review and monitor appropriate actions on the 11 important tasks assigned under the New National Education Policy.
● To implement state-level and divisional-level research projects on behalf of the Population Education Department.
● To take appropriate action and conduct necessary correspondence on proposals received from the Core Committee.
● To attend quarterly and annual PPR meetings organized by the National Population Education Department, New Delhi, and present work done in line with the annual action plan and budget, as well as submit the annual action plan and budget every year.
● To implement the Har Ghar Constitution programme.
● To implement the Veer Gatha initiative.
