Department establishment :

The State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra, Pune. The library was established in 1964.

According to the above government decision, the staffing structure of the library department is as follows:-

Objectives / Functions of the Department :

1. To procure the required books and educational journals as per the objectives of the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra.


2. To make reference material available for the formulation of the National Education Policy and the State Education Policy.


3. To provide reference material for the development of the State Curriculum Framework in line with the National Curriculum Framework and for the preparation of curricula based on it.


4. To provide reference material to officers and staff, education experts, headmasters, primary and secondary teachers from across the State attending training programmes and workshops organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra.


5. To provide reference material to students pursuing Ph.D. (Education).


6. To collect educational news published in Marathi and English newspapers and make the same available to senior officers for reference and information.
