Department Establishment :-

As per the government decision dated 17th October 2016, under the restructuring of educational institutions, an independent Science Department was established at the State Level in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Maharashtra, Pune.

Objectives and Functions :-

The main objective of the Science Department is to train teachers of science from primary to higher secondary level and make them proficient and competent in the subject.

Develop teachers' capabilities through training and other means to enhance students’ scientific concepts and abilities across the state.
Clarify the responsibilities of supervisory personnel for post-training assessment, review, and follow-up.
Create supplementary study materials for the science subject.
Prepare training plans and frameworks for science at state, department, district, and taluka levels.
Oversee the training conducted at state, department, district, and taluka levels.
